Benfica’s Bruno Lage Talks Key Players Ahead of Clash with Barcelon

Benfica manager Bruno Lage spoke to the media ahead of his team’s crucial UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg match against Barcelona. With the Portuguese side facing a challenging task at the Spotify Camp Nou, Lage remained optimistic about their chances.

The Benfica boss acknowledged the strength of Xavi Hernández’s squad but insisted that his team could still turn the tie around. “If we create as many chances as we did in previous encounters, we have a realistic chance of winning,” he stated.

Lage also addressed the key threats in Barcelona’s lineup, including the in-form Raphinha, young sensation Lamine Yamal, and experienced striker Robert Lewandowski. “Raphinha and Yamal are very dangerous on the wings, and Lewandowski is a top striker who can change a game at any moment,” he said.

He further praised Pedri’s ability to control the midfield, acknowledging the Spaniard’s influence in dictating play. Additionally, Lage commented on goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny, who has been linked with Barcelona, suggesting that he could be a valuable addition for the Catalan club in the future.

Benfica will need a strong performance to overcome Barcelona and advance to the quarter-finals. With Lage’s confidence in his team’s attacking capabilities, the upcoming clash promises to be an exciting and intense battle.

Barcelona, led by Xavi, will look to maintain their advantage and secure a spot in the next round, but Benfica remains determined to fight until the final whistle.
