A man has been arrested after police launched a murder investigation in Hamilton.

Emergency services rushed to the Burnbank Centre on Monday afternoon (October 21) to reports of two injured men. A 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and a 59-year-old man was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Police are treating the death of the 36-year-old as an alleged murder and the alleged attack on the 59-year-old as attempted murder. A 56-year-old man has been arrested, police said this morning (October 22).

Police said they believe the incident to be ‘isolated’ , saying there is ‘no danger’ to the public. Officers remain at the scene on Whitehill Road and Purdie Street and are expected to be there into the afternoon.
