In a remarkable debut at the Australian Grand Prix on March 16, 2025, 18-year-old Italian driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli showcased exceptional skill by finishing fourth, making him the youngest Formula 1 debutant to score points.
Starting 16th on the grid amid challenging wet and windy conditions, Antonelli adeptly navigated the race, initially receiving a five-second penalty for an alleged unsafe pit lane release involving Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg. However, upon Mercedes’ appeal and presentation of new video evidence, the penalty was overturned, reinstating Antonelli’s fourth-place finish.
Team principal Toto Wolff praised Antonelli’s composure and ability to seize opportunities, highlighting a promising future for the young driver.
Antonelli’s impressive performance underscores his potential as a rising star in Formula 1, marking a significant milestone in his burgeoning career.
