President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Yemen’s Houthi rebels, threatening their “complete annihilation” amid intensified U.S. airstrikes targeting Houthi-controlled regions. The escalation follows a series of Houthi attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea, which the U.S. administration attributes to Iranian support.

On his Truth Social platform, President Trump stated, “Tremendous damage has been inflicted upon the Houthi barbarians,” adding, “Watch how it will get progressively worse—It’s not even a fair fight, and never will be.”

The recent U.S. airstrikes have targeted key Houthi positions, including the capital city of Sanaa and the stronghold of Saada. Initial reports indicate that at least 53 individuals, including children, have been killed. The Houthi-affiliated SABA news agency confirmed that 16 of its members were among the casualties, though specific details were not provided.

The U.S. military has released footage showing American fighter jets deploying laser-guided Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) rockets to intercept and destroy Houthi drones over the Red Sea. These rockets, costing approximately $35,000 each, offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional air-to-air missiles.

President Trump has also issued a direct warning to Iran, stating that any further Houthi attacks will be considered actions by Iran itself, promising “dire” consequences in response. Iran has consistently denied providing arms to the Houthis, despite evidence suggesting otherwise.

The United Nations has expressed concern over the escalating violence, particularly the impact on civilians. Operations in certain regions, such as Saada, have been suspended due to security concerns.

The situation in Yemen remains highly volatile, with the potential for further escalation posing significant risks to regional stability and the safety of civilians.
