Iran to Respond to Trump’s Letter Soon: FM Araghchi

Tehran — Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that Iran will soon respond to a letter sent by former U.S. President Donald Trump. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Araghchi stated that the government is carefully reviewing the content of the letter and will formulate an appropriate response in due course.

While details of the letter remain undisclosed, it is believed to pertain to ongoing tensions between the two nations, including issues related to the 2015 nuclear agreement (JCPOA) and sanctions imposed by the United States. Araghchi emphasized that Iran remains committed to protecting its national interests and will take into account the current geopolitical climate before making any official statement.

“The government is evaluating the message thoroughly and will take the necessary time to ensure that Iran’s stance is conveyed firmly and diplomatically,” Araghchi said. He refrained from providing a specific timeline but assured that the response would be issued soon.

This development comes amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, with diplomatic efforts to revive the nuclear deal facing numerous challenges. Trump’s administration withdrew from the JCPOA in 2018, imposing severe economic sanctions on Iran. The current U.S. administration has shown interest in renegotiating the terms, but progress has been slow.

Analysts speculate that Iran’s response could shape the trajectory of future negotiations, especially as the nation faces internal and external pressures to secure relief from sanctions while maintaining its strategic priorities. The international community is closely monitoring the situation, awaiting Iran’s official stance on Trump’s letter.
