Karoline Leavitt, who spoke out throughout his campaign, will be appointed White House press secretary in Donald Trump’s next government.
Leavitt will be the youngest press secretary in US history to hold the position at the age of 27.
I’m sure the former congressional candidate, who worked in the White House press office during the first Trump administration, will excel at the podium and help deliver our message to the American People as we Make America Great Again,” the president-elect said in a statement.

Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator, Trump stated.

Leavitt, who is from New Hampshire, attended Saint Anselm College, a Catholic university in her home state, to study political science and communications.

She worked as an intern in Trump’s White House press office and at Fox News while she was still a student. Her first glimpse into the world of press came from these events, she told Politico in 2020. According to her, they influenced her choice to become a press relations professional.
According to the website for her 2022 congressional campaign, Leavitt started working for the first Trump White House soon after graduating in 2019 as an assistant press secretary and then as a presidential speechwriter.

I fought against the biassed mainstream media and assisted in preparing Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany for high-pressure briefings, according to her website.
Following his departure from the White House, Leavitt was the director of communications for senior Republican congresswoman Elise Stefanik, who has been nominated by President-elect Trump to be ambassador to the United Nations.
After leaving that position to run for Congress, Leavitt lost to Democrat Chris Pappas in the general election despite receiving the Republican primary for New Hampshire’s first congressional district in 2022.

Many of Trump’s priorities are in line with the policy stances she stated on her campaign website. She promised to   CUT taxes and champion pro-growth, free market policies in regards to the economy.
She portrayed herself as a staunch supporter of law enforcement and border security, using phrases like ZERO tolerance for illegal immigration and promising to see the border wall through to completion.
She became the press secretary for Trump’s third presidential campaign in January 2024.

She has now been selected to be the youngest press secretary in US history to hold the position. The previous record holder was Ron Ziegler. At the age of 29, Richard Nixon appointed him to the post in 1969.

Leavitt will soon be seen by the public in the famous location behind the podium in the White House briefing room, which was the scene of numerous heated press conferences between Trump’s first administration officials and members of the press.

During his first four years in office, Trump had a number of press secretaries, including Stephanie Grisham, Kayleigh McEnany, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and Sean Spicer.
Sanders won the Arkansas gubernatorial election after leaving the White House.

Following the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, Grisham resigned and has since turned against Trump. McEnany, a Fox News presenter, has persisted in supporting the president-elect.
