Recent discussions between the United States and Russia regarding a proposed ceasefire in Ukraine are expected to continue, though no concrete plans have been established, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. Peskov indicated that future contacts are anticipated but without specifics yet and noted no planned meetings between Presidents Trump and Putin or a three-way meeting with Ukraine.
The recent talks in Riyadh aimed at establishing a limited 30-day ceasefire face challenges due to ongoing drone and missile attacks and disagreements on target types. Moscow and Kyiv differently interpret the ceasefire scope, with Ukraine wanting broader protections for infrastructure. Senior Russian lawmaker Grigory Karasin described the discussions as tough but constructive.
Despite these diplomatic efforts, hostilities persist. A recent Russian missile strike in Sumy injured 101 people, including 17 children, and various attacks across Ukraine injured several more.
