Governor Alia’s Administration Marginalising Benue South – Odeh
Makurdi – A prominent political figure in Benue State, Hon. John Odeh, has accused Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration of marginalising Benue South Senatorial District in key government decisions and appointments.
Speaking to journalists in Makurdi on Friday, Odeh alleged that since assuming office, Governor Alia has consistently sidelined the people of Benue South, also known as Zone C, in the allocation of political appointments, developmental projects, and resource distribution. According to him, this trend contradicts the governor’s campaign promises of inclusivity and equal representation across all zones.
“It is disheartening that more than nine months into this administration, Benue South remains largely ignored in the scheme of things. Our people feel alienated, and it appears as though the government is only for Zones A and B,” Odeh said.
He emphasized that Benue South, which has consistently contributed to the political and economic development of the state, deserves fair treatment and equal opportunities. Odeh urged Governor Alia to urgently address the imbalance and ensure that all zones benefit from the dividends of democracy.
He also called on political leaders and traditional rulers from Benue South to unite and speak out against the perceived marginalisation, stressing that silence would only embolden further exclusion.
The Governor’s office has yet to respond to the allegations.
Odeh’s remarks have stirred renewed debate across the state, with analysts warning that continued exclusion of any region could foster division and erode public trust in the current administration.
