Christian Horner Addresses Max Verstappen Exit Rumors Amid Red Bull Turmoil

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has dismissed swirling rumors suggesting a rift with star driver Max Verstappen, affirming their strong relationship despite recent team challenges.

Speculation about Verstappen’s potential departure intensified following Red Bull’s underwhelming performance in the 2025 season opener in Bahrain, where Verstappen finished sixth. Concerns over the car’s balance and discrepancies between wind tunnel data and on-track results prompted internal crisis meetings. Additionally, tensions arose when Verstappen’s manager reportedly confronted Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko.

Addressing the rumors, Horner stated, “No, not at all. I was with Jos and Max at Silverstone a couple of days ago.” He emphasized the team’s unity and downplayed any internal conflicts.

Verstappen echoed Horner’s sentiments, asserting, “It is very good. We have achieved a lot of things together so that doesn’t change suddenly.”

While Verstappen’s contract with Red Bull extends through 2028, it includes a performance-related escape clause. Despite this, both Horner and Verstappen have expressed commitment to the team’s future, aiming to overcome current challenges and return to championship contention.

As Red Bull navigates a competitive field, including a resurgent McLaren and a strengthened Ferrari, the team’s internal cohesion and performance improvements will be crucial in retaining their top driver and achieving success in the ongoing season.
