In the midst of regional conflict and heightened security concerns, Israel is pushing ahead with preparations for the 22nd Maccabiah Games, demonstrating its commitment to unity, resilience, and global Jewish identity. Often dubbed the “Jewish Olympics,” the Maccabiah is one of the largest sporting events in the world, drawing thousands of athletes from over 80 countries.

Organizers have confirmed that the event, scheduled for July, will proceed as planned, with significant adjustments to security and logistics. The decision comes as a symbol of defiance against disruption, affirming the event’s mission to celebrate Jewish heritage through sport.

“We will not let conflict silence our spirit,” said Maccabi World Union Chair Amir Peled. “The Maccabiah is more than a sports competition—it’s a statement of solidarity, heritage, and endurance.”

Despite the ongoing tensions, registration numbers remain strong. Delegations from North America, Europe, South America, and Australia have reaffirmed their commitment, with many citing the importance of supporting Israel during trying times.

Authorities have been working closely with the IDF and international security experts to ensure the safety of athletes and spectators. Venues are undergoing reinforced security measures, and contingency plans are in place for travel and emergency responses.

The 2025 Maccabiah Games are expected to feature over 40 sports, ranging from swimming and basketball to judo and fencing, spread across venues in Jerusalem, Haifa, and Tel Aviv.

With the slogan “Stronger Together,” this year’s games aim not only to promote athletic excellence but also to serve as a global expression of unity in the face of adversity.
