“This club will be back.” – An emotional Danny Houghton spoke to the Hull FC crowd for a final time.
“With the support we receive, I’m going to miss running out on this pitch. I am aware of how difficult things are right now, but this number is unique. There is incredible camaraderie in the changing room. Though the outside world will never know about it, I must say that being a member of our group for such a long time has been an amazing experience for me. Even though it’s a tiny chapter in my life, I’ve always cherished it deeply. Now, let’s move on to the next chapter. I want to thank all of the supporting staff, the playing squad, everyone I’ve gotten to know over the years, and everyone present today for their support. This group will reappear.”
After 451 games played, two Challenge Cup medals, and a stint as a Super League Man of Steel, Houghton ends his career as the third-highest appearance maker ever. A real legend in the club.
