In a recent statement, President Donald Trump emphasized the urgency of resolving the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, asserting that peace must be achieved “now or never.” This declaration came during a meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who pledged British peacekeeping troops as part of a joint mission with France to support a potential peace agreement. Trump highlighted significant progress toward ending the hostilities and underscored the necessity of a timely resolution to prevent prolonged warfare.

In a related development, President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are poised to finalize a minerals agreement at the White House. This deal would grant the United States access to Ukraine’s rich deposits of rare earth elements, aiming to offset the financial aid provided to Ukraine during the conflict. However, the timeline for extracting these resources remains uncertain, and the agreement does not include explicit security guarantees for Ukraine.

European leaders have expressed concerns regarding President Trump’s approach to the peace negotiations. French President Emmanuel Macro and Prime Minister Starmer have cautioned against a resolution that might unduly favor Russian interests or compromise Ukraine’s sovereignty. Despite these apprehensions, Trump remains confident in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s commitment to uphold any agreed-upon truce, a stance that has heightened European anxieties.
