Ex-Crusader Heremaia Murray Poised to Deliver at Fullback for Queensland Reds

Queensland Reds’ latest signing, and Murray, is set to make his Super Rugby Pacific debut this weekend, filling in at fullback due to Jock Campbell’s injury. The 25-year-old New Zealander, who previously played for Canterbury in New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship, has impressed the Reds’ coaching staff and teammates since joining the squad on a two-year deal.

Murray’s speed, agility, and attacking instincts have caught the attention of Reds halfback Tate McDermott, who praised his ability to break the line and provide dynamic support in attack. While traditionally a winger, Murray will don the No. 15 jersey against the Western Force, showcasing his versatility and adaptability.

The Reds are looking to improve their away form after an inconsistent 2024 season and face a Force side that has started strong with back-to-back wins. With Murray’s inclusion, the team hopes to inject fresh energy into their backline and build momentum early in the competition.

Head coach Les Kiss is confident that Murray’s Super Rugby debut will be a defining moment in his career, highlighting his work ethic and seamless transition into the squad. Fans will be eager to see if the former Crusader can make a lasting impact in Australian rugby.
