Dunelm shop and cafe ordered to close down by authorities

Published

on

Scottish Gas has issued a closure order to Dunelm.

A well-known Kilmarnock store has been told to close by the authorities, yet it is still closed.

There have been rumours that Dunelm at Glencairn Retail Park in the town has closed due to a gas leak.

Teams are working nonstop to resolve the problem since the alert was initially triggered last week.

While SGN personnel are working at the side of the store, a portion of Holmquarry Road has been entirely closed.

Workers at the scene have excavated different sections of the road.

The alleged gas leak has not impacted any other stores, and they are still operating as of right now.

It’s understood that authorities closed the store on Wednesday, and it hasn’t opened back up.

The window has a notification that says, “Closed until further notice by Scottish Gas order.” For updates, please visit our Facebook page. I apologise for any trouble this may have caused.

The preseason preparations for both Ayr United and Kilmarnock will include a match at Somerset Park between the fierce rivals.

Days before they take on their opponents from Ayrshire on Thursday, July 11, The Honest Men will play a glamorous friendly against Scottish champions Celtic under their new North Stand.

With Scott Brown’s team hoping to kick off their 2018 Championship campaign with a bang, this is a big week to usher in the new development at Somerset. With the signings of George Oakley, Jay Henderson, Harry Stone, and Anton Dowds, United has already been busy in the summer transfer market.

While Brown’s revamped team continues to take shape, United is nearing completion on contracts for at least two more players. Additionally, they will face two significant early tests at the start of July when they play a double header against Kilmarnock and Celtic. In due order, information about ticket sales will be released.

Today, police are kilmarnock present at a apartment tower.
– Locals claimed to have seen armed police at the scene of a confrontation.
– According to police, they have received a report about a man threatening people at a property. There is a police negotiator present.

We appreciate you watching our live coverage; tomorrow, we’ll have more information about the inquiry.

The cordon has been lifted, according to police confirmation.

They also expressed gratitude to local companies and citizens for their cooperation and tolerance during the day.

Authorities report that a 44-year-old male was taken into custody on charges of threatening to kill and affray. He is in the custody of the police.

We will await a further statement from police.

The cops are currently turning people away from the parking lot in front of Super Bowl, Leaders, and Home Bargains.

Statement from Merseyside Police:

“We can confirm that police are at a St Helens flat on Liverpool Road right now.

“At 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, officers were called in response to an allegation that a man had made threats at the property.

“A police negotiator is present and trying to talk to the individual; the scene has been sealed off.

“We appreciate the patience of the neighbourhood businesses and residents during this time.

“Members of the public are advised to avoid the area while the incident is being dealt with.”

Regarding if a man’s earlier today’s social media posts are related to the current issue, police did not say.

The stand-off goes on…it is believed to have been seven hours now since the incident started.

Since just after nine a.m. this morning, police have been on the site, meaning emergency personnel have been on the scene for six hours.

This is where the standoff is still ongoing; the man in the window hasn’t been seen in a while.

“It’s been going on for ages this now, proper shouting out of the window and that,” a woman told the Star. When you consider how much time you’ve wasted on this guy since this morning, it’s quite annoying.”

Witnesses have reported a man was seen in the window of the flat with what appeared to be knife.

Good News Building merchant unveils six-figure investment in Kilmarnock

The floorspace that has tripled in size and the branch now occupies nearly 1.5 acres

PDM, a retailer of building supplies, recently launched an expansion to its Kilmarnock location.

The six-figure investment should better serve the needs of both current and potential consumers, offering a much broader selection of products within a retail area that has tripled in size.

The parent business of PDM, Huws Grey Group, officially opened the refurbished facilities with Daksh Gupta as its chief executive.

After more than 25 years of operation in the town, PDM relocated to its new site in 2006 to expand its product line beyond above- and below-ground drainage solutions.

Today, PDM’s Kilmarnock branch boasts a nearly 1.5-acre footprint and offers a wider selection of basic building, plumbing, roofing, electrical and drainage supplies.

PDM’s managing director, Eddie Hernon, stated: “This investment will enable us to provide our existing customers a one-stop shop for a greater range of products, while simultaneously attracting an entirely new customer base as well. It also provides a solid foundation for success as the construction sector starts to grow once again.”

Through the takeover, SLB—which provides services to clients throughout the central belt—was able to improve its Larkhall facilities, including redesigned exhibit rooms, a scheduled computer system upgrade, and the creation of an online store.

The owners of SLB have decided to hire more employees in the coming months, keeping the current 13 employees on board. There are 19 workers at M&J.

Royal Bank of Scotland provided a £2.1 million loan to help complete the acquisition.

Although managing director Mark Rodger’s late father Tom founded M&J in 1999, the company’s origins may be traced back to Greenock Central Sawmills, which was founded by Mark’s grandfather in the 1950s. M&J supplies timber as well as other construction supplies.

“Since private equity firms dominate the acquisition market, it was wonderful to be able to acquire SLB with the support of the bank, as the company shares our family values and dedication to our employees and customers.”#

“After this combination is successful, we hope to expand in the future by making further acquisitions. We appreciate all of the support from Euan McLeod and the Royal Bank of Scotland staff during this exciting moment for the company.

“This is a major step forward for Mark and the company as it embarks on its next phase of growth,” stated McLeod, Royal Bank of Scotland’s relationship manager. “It’s been rewarding to support them through the purchase.” Best wishes for the future as Mark and his family expand their business go out to them.

The local green space has been overrun by police this morning.

A Kilmarnock park has been cordoned off by police. Playpark near the football pitches of Dean Thistle Football Club is currently manned by officers. A significant police presence has also been observed in nearby Townholm, with multiple police cars parked close to Bonnyton Thistle’s ground.

Dog walkers have stated that officials have restricted access to several areas of the park, telling residents that it is a “crime scene.” Several places immediately off Dean Road and Dean Street have police tape posted.

In the vicinity of the scene, one cop was also observed monitoring the field close to the river. We have reached out to Police Scotland for a response.
