In a decisive move, U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stern ultimatum to Hamas, demanding the immediate release of all Israeli hostages held in Gaza. In a statement on his platform, Truth Social, Trump warned that failure to comply would result in severe consequences for the militant group.

This development marks a significant shift in U.S. foreign policy, as the White House confirmed that President Trump had recently dispatched an envoy for unprecedented direct talks with Hamas regarding the hostage situation. Previous administrations had consistently avoided direct engagement with Hamas, which is designated as a terrorist organization by the United States.

The urgency of the situation is underscored by the fact that among the hostages are U.S. citizens, intensifying domestic pressure on the administration to secure their release. President Trump emphasized that the United States stands firmly with Israel and is prepared to support any necessary measures to eliminate Hamas if the hostages are not freed.

In his address, President Trump also reached out to the people of Gaza, suggesting that their future could be bright if they choose to release the hostages. He cautioned, however, that continued captivity of the hostages would lead to dire consequences, stating, “If you hold hostages, you are dead.”

Hamas has responded to President Trump’s ultimatum by condemning his statements, accusing him of encouraging Israeli aggression. The group has called for serious steps in negotiations with the United States, indicating a potential openness to dialogue under certain conditions.

The international community is closely monitoring the situation, as the potential for escalation looms. The recent direct negotiations between the U.S. and Hamas, coupled with President Trump’s explicit warnings, have added a new dimension to the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The coming days will be critical in determining whether diplomatic efforts can secure the safe release of the hostages or if the region will face further instability.
