“It appears that there was no foul play in the lead up to this man’s death”

Greater Manchester Police have stated that the death of a man in Wythenshawe is no longer being examined as a murder case.

Yesterday morning (October 13), the man’s body was discovered in a woods near the Peel Hall tram stop and Concord Business Park. ‘Reports of an unconscious male’ prompted the initial call to the police.
Regretfully, the corpse was discovered in the “Big Wood” woodland region. A forty-year-old guy was taken into custody on suspicion of murder while police opened an investigation.
The force said in an update this afternoon that he was subsequently freed while an investigation was ongoing. Detectives now think there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death, following a post-mortem conducted by the Home Office.

It appears ‘there was no foul play in the lead up to his death’, police added. The man’s next of kin have been informed and the body will be formally identified.

A cordon was put in place after the man's body was discovered

Anyone with information about the man’s death is being urged to contact GMP. Detective Superintendent David Moores, of GMP’s South Manchester district, said: “I would like to pass on my condolences to the man who has sadly died and his family, our specially trained officers are supporting them at this time and have asked for privacy at this devastating time.
