After a recent appointment, Barrow AFC want to become more visible in the neighbourhood.

Emmanuel Allen-Burnett will work as a full-time Community Engagement Officer for the football team, the club said.

The club claims that they searched for the ideal candidate for months before Emmanuel finally met all of their requirements.

“This role is all about fostering our relationship with the key groups within our local community here in Barrow-In-Furness,” Emmanuel added, describing the duties of his new position.

I took on this role in order to reestablish a strong connection between the football team and its supporters and to investigate potential community service projects because the town is quite lovely and everyone is quite passionate about football.

As they aim to’strengthen’ their position in the fabric of Barrow, the club added that they have determined over the past year that recruiting someone for the new role will improve the amount of work they can undertake throughout the region.

After completing his studies at UCFB and earning a degree in Sports Business and Law, Emmanuel joins the club.

Emmanuel worked as a volunteer with the Manchester FA while he was a student, participating in various community-based programmes.

“As a member of the Youth Council at Manchester FA, I’ve been involved in a lot of community projects in Greater Manchester,” he continued.

“My team and I recently organised an event for 100 young people at the beginning of April to highlight all the various roles and demonstrate to them how football can help you improve with so many different skills that are transferable to all different aspects of life.”

Barrow Boss Remains The Optimistic before the Final Day Drama

Published

Barrow’s depressing 1-1 draw with Mansfield Town completed a run of poor performance under Pete Wild. Prior to the dramatic events of the final day, the Cumbrian team had been in the play-off position since November 2023.

Before losing to Morecambe on April 1, Wild’s team had only lost eight league games this season, making them seem hard to beat. Barrow did not win a single game between their 2-1 loss at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium and their match against the Stags on the final day. This terrible run of form has unavoidably cost them a spot in the play-offs.

The Cumbrian team’s star player of the year, Kian Spence, gave his team a lifeline against Mansfield in the 58th minute with an equaliser. The home team will understandably be devastated because they were unable to take advantage of this good fortune and lost out on the chance to finish in fifth place, a spot they had occupied for the majority of the season.

Notwithstanding this surrender, which results in Barrow’s defeat in April, Wild has made remarks regarding the evident upward trajectory his team has been following since his arrival in June 2022. Following their 2019–20 season promotion from the National League to the EFL, the Barrow-in-furness team came dangerously close to being demoted back to non-league football twice. Following finishes in 21st and 22nd position,

Regarding his League Two team’s season finale, the 39-year-old manager said this in an interview with the Barrow AFC media team on X.

We’re headed in the correct direction. We’re approaching the game correctly.

“We are aware that in order to attempt and cross the line, we will undoubtedly need to bring in more. Even if we haven’t arrived yet, we’re a long way from where we were when we first entered the building two years ago. We’re heading in the right direction.

Author’s Perspective

The belief that Barrow is headed in the right path is precisely the kind of hope that a coach ought to instill in the supporters. However, considering how well the Cumbrian side was performing before

Wild has turned Barrow from a team that was in danger of relegation to one that is hoping to advance, much to the obvious chagrin of their supporters at their team throwing away a play-off chance. Patience may be the best medicine to recover from this painful setback, since there is a clear project for the fourth tier side.
