The Burnley fan pundit for FLW thinks that once Josh Brownhill’s contract extension was activated this summer, the team ought to consider selling him.

Josh Brownhill may leave Burnley this summer, even if they have the option to extend.
Brownhill’s abilities and background could help him succeed in the Championship.
In order to get the best offer for the midfield player, Burnley should try to sell while extending his contract for fair compensation.

The ‘Terrace Talk’ series from Football League World features the views of our FLW Fan Pundits on a variety of topics, including teams, players, managers, potential signings, breaking news, and more.

Burnley may choose to let Josh Brownhill go this summer even though the team has the option to extend the midfielder’s contract at Turf Moor.

For the majority of the past year, Burnley’s future has been uncertain as the 28-year-old has refrained from agreeing to a new contract in an attempt to prolong his four-year tenure at Turf Moor. Even before joining Burnley, he established himself as a capable operator in the division by advancing through the ranks at Bristol City and Preston.

Brownhill, who scored seven goals and provided eight assists during the team’s promotion campaign, has struggled to get regular playing time since moving to the top division. He has made fewer than 25 starts this season, but a return to the Championship could bring him back to full strength.

The midfielder’s contract is set to expire at the end of next month, and Wolves, West Ham, Crystal Palace, and Brentford are reportedly interested in signing him. Should a contract extension be agreed upon, a transfer fee of £9 million is being discussed. As things stand now, the midfielder’s time at the club is expected to come to an end.

Burnley should extend Josh Brownhill’s contract but sell

According to reports, Burnley is going to activate his one-year contract extension, which would at least provide them with some security in the event that the midfield player decides to depart in the summer.

Ben Livingstone, a Burnley supporter for FLW, has advised the team to trade the midfielder and find another alternative in the middle of the park instead of extending his contract this summer.

“I think the club will take up the option to extend it by a year, but I would personally sell him,” he remarked in an interview with Football League World.

“We can do better, in part because you don’t want to let go of someone who has been your captain, even though many Burnley supporters don’t think highly of him.

“To be honest, me too. After the first two or three months of that season, I don’t think he accomplished anything very noteworthy in the Championship.

We can bring in someone who, in my opinion, matches the model better and is a little bit younger.

If I were being honest, I would let him go, and I believe the club will too.

“You need to move Brownhill on, offer Josh Cullen an extension, and designate him as captain.

“Hopefully, maintain Sander Berge in the lineup and consider using a midfield three with Aaron Ramsey.

With so many choices in midfield, we should be able to fetch some cash for him.

“How about £10 million? With £10 million, I believe you would be content.”

Josh Brownhill’s next move

Brownhill was an essential member of the team during his most recent promotion back to the second division. He put on a number of strong performances that helped Burnley surpass 100 points in the regular season. His ability to break free from a box in the closing third of the game and his sense of passing the ball were also key factors.

A player such as that is the envy of many of Burnley’s Championship rivals and colleagues. He possesses several attributes that would make him a valuable starter in the second division.

He could play in the Premier League with ease, and many elite teams would find it beneficial to sign him as a squad member for a cost of approximately £9–10 million. He will, however, get significantly less if Burnley does not act regarding his contract.

Hashim Mahmood, the shadow scholarship coach at BARNSLEY FC, was called up to the England men’s deaf squad for this month’s European Championships.

England has been drawn to play in Turkey against Wales, Scotland, Germany, and Greece. The opening match is scheduled for Monday at 3 p.m.

When Hashim got an ear infection when he was just a few months old, it nearly killed him.

Despite his hearing problem, he hasn’t allowed it stop him; instead, he has accepted everything with grace.

Midfielder Hashim expressed his excitement at being chosen, saying it felt like a reward for all of his hard work. When I got the email, I was at work and told everyone how thrilled my coworkers were for me.

“I love football, and when I looked at my career options in sixth form, I realised that coaching was the right path for me.”

Since September 2022, he has been employed by the club as a shadow scholarship player while pursuing a degree in football coaching at the University of South Wales.

After finishing his degree last year, he is currently pursuing his UEFA B coaching certification.

Hashim went on, “I really want to improve as a player and become the best coach I can be. I hope to coach in a professional academy one day.”
