Latest Nottingham Forest news as Premier League clubs could see a big change to the transfer window from next year

If a suggested Premier League move materialises, Nottingham Forest’s summer transfer window may appear substantially different.

The Sunday Times reports that the 20 Premier League teams have decided to take a new tack when it comes to transfer windows. There are rumours that the summer window may be closed before the season’s first match, beginning in 2025.

The deadline for transfers would now occur on 15 August of the following summer. The Daily Mail notes that the proposal has not yet been formally approved by the clubs and has not been put to a vote.

The summer window closed on August 30 of this year. By then, Forest had previously participated in two league matches as well as a Carabao Cup match.

Nuno Espirito Santo, head coach of the Reds, would be in favour of any effort to move the deadline to before league activity starts. Earlier this term, he expressed his opinions on the subject, saying that players may become distracted by transfer rumours.

How come we are competing when the transfer window is still open is something that we, along with everyone else in the Premier League, must consider. Back in August, he stated, “This is something we should really think about.” “There is noise around football clubs and players.”

Not just me, in my opinion. Many of us managers, I believe, will have similar feelings.

This time, Forest was able to complete a large portion of their transfer work early in the summer. However, they did add a few players after the season had already began. James Ward-Prowse and Morato signed contracts on deadline day, and Alex Moreno and David Carmo (who left right away to go on loan to Olympiacos) joined after the season had already started.

Premier League clubs have overseen a change to the window before. The summer window closed before the start of the season in 2018, but quickly reverted back to its usual end of August date as teams felt vulnerable to late swoops from European sides. To avoid a repeat of that situation, it is said Premier League clubs are hopeful other leagues around Europe will also adjust their transfer window dates.
