Salford City Keen On signing Forest Green Rovers Midfielder

Salford City and Crewe Alexandra are both planning to raid Forest Green Rovers in search of Charlie McCann.

Due to their inability to survive in League Two this season, Forest Green is getting ready to return to non-league play.

Due to his relegation, McCann may be able to move for a little cost during the summer transfer window, and League Two is showing interest in him.

Salford and Crewe would both like to have McCann join their ranks.

Crewe wants to strengthen the team at Gresty Road this summer after making it to the League Two playoff final the previous season.
Salford, on the other hand, performed abjectly, placing 20th, much below the Greater Manchester club’s hopes.

Before joining the Scottish powerhouse Rangers, McCann spent time in Manchester United’s development system. He left Rangers in 2023 to join Forest Green.

The midfield player’s summer plans are still unknown, despite his Northern Ireland caps up to the Under-21 level.

Experienced defender Ben Tozer joins Forest Green Rovers after leaving Wrexham this summer, strengthening the backline. Ben Tozer was the captain of Cheltenham Town previously.

The 34-year-old Tozer recently assisted Wrexham in winning consecutive promotions from the National League to League One.

He led the Robins to the League Two title during their winning season of 2020–2021, but he moved early the next season to sign a £200,000 contract to join Wrexham.

“Getting promoted back-to-back was incredible and it was amazing to be a part of the club during that time,” Tozer stated in reference to his move to the New Lawn.

“I gained a lot of experience playing a good chunk of games for Wrexham and learned a lot while supporting the younger players from the sidelines.”

He expressed excitement about collaborating closely with Steve Cotterill, whose resume lists five promotions.

“During my off season, I wrote up a do’s and don’ts list; what I wanted from my next move, obviously I want to continue the highs but there’s more to it than just winning games,” he stated.

“The manager and his goals and intentions, the culture and locker room he desires within the team, the other players and additions he wishes to make, and his eagerness to have me and my family stay.”

“There are also off-field plans, such as the construction of a new training facility; everything is connected.” Regarding his expectations for the upcoming season.

“As a player and for the team, I hope for a successful season on the pitch. Everyone is aware of how challenging it is to get promoted outside of the National League; we must work hard, and I am eager to get started.”

With the intention of returning to the EFL right away, Forest Green has already strengthened its roster this summer with the addition of defenders Sean Long and Liam Sercombe.
