Following the several stabbings of a 17-year-old kid in the town centre last year, two “violent” adolescents were sentenced to prison.

Witnesses on March 9 reported seeing the child, who had been attacked on Gillingham High Street, fighting for his life and covered in blood on the ground.

After being stabbed in the back and arm, the victim was brought to a hospital in London by officers who were dispatched to the scene outside Wilko and Sports Direct.

Currently, a 16-year-old kid from London who cannot be identified for legal reasons and 18-year-old Dimeiro Campbell of Chester Road, Gillingham, are both behind bars.

In a group, Campbell and his friend confronted their victim, whom they did not know. After a brief exchange of words, the two repeatedly stabbed him.

The victim’s wounds included an arterial bleed from one of his arms, among other traumas.

First assistance was provided by two bystanders and the responding police officers. After receiving life-threatening medical attention, he was sent to the hospital but was eventually released.

After the 16-year-old was identified, the two suspects left the scene before help could arrive, but CCTV footage from the neighbourhood allowed them to be located.

On March 10, both teenagers were taken into custody: Campbell at London’s Victoria Railway Station and the younger one at his Watford home.

One of the knives that had been stashed in an alleyway close to Campbell’s house on Chester Road in Gillingham was also found by investigators.

Both were accused of intentionally hurting someone and having a weapon in a public area the next day. At Maidstone Crown Court, they entered a guilty plea. On Friday, March 1, they were each given a sentence of four years and three months in jail.

The young child may have died as a result of this horrific attack in a crowded town centre, according to Medway Community Safety Unit Detective Sergeant Raj Dusanjh. His life was only spared because of the prompt actions of the emergency services and two members of the public in particular.

Armed with knives and ready to commit harm, both perpetrators arrived on the High Street. Considering that their attack on the victim was completely unprovoked, detectives were convinced to locate them. This was finished in a day, and their conviction and incarceration were guaranteed by the thorough CCTV analysis and the discovery of further evidence.
