There were two teams that were having a terrible season on the Week 14 Monday Night Football episode.

The Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys played like a couple of teams with nothing left to lose, since their chances of qualifying for the playoffs had all but vanished.

Ultimately, a blocked punt by Dallas proved to be the game-ending factor for the Cowboys, who suffered a stunning 27–20 home loss.

With two minutes left and the game deadlocked, the Dallas defence made a key stop to force a Bengals punt, giving the Cowboys the advantage in Big D.

When Nick Vigil blocked the Bengals’ punt, the Cowboys supporters at AT&T Stadium went wild. However, their joy was short-lived as Amani Oruwariye of the Cowboys fumbled the stopped ball. Maema Njongmeta recovered for the Bengals after Oruwariye touched the ball past the line of scrimmage, making it a live ball.

Running back Chase Brown’s 10-yard rush and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase’s 40-yard catch and run for the game-winning touchdown—his second of the game—fueled a three-play Cincinnati scoring drive.

We required a respite. Regarding the block punt recovery, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow stated during the game, “We needed a break.” This year, we haven’t had many. Getting that one and finishing this with a victory was pleasant.

Burrow, who is having an incredible statistical season, passed for more than 200 yards and two touchdowns in the first half, including 87 yards and a touchdown to Chase, giving the Bengals offence a strong start.

Burrow found Brown, who walked a tightrope down the sideline for a 19-yard score, giving Cincinnati a 17–10 advantage at the half. After the officials initially declared that Brown had stepped out of bounds, the running back had to wait for a replay review to confirm the score before jumping into the Cowboys’ red Salvation Army kettle in celebration.

After a 3-yard Cooper Rush touchdown pass to Brandin Cooks and a 47-yard field goal from Brandon Aubrey, Dallas rallied for 10 consecutive points in the second half to take a 20–17 lead.

Cade York’s second field goal of the game gave the Bengals a 20-point lead.

York made his Bengals debut in front of his girlfriend, Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Zoë Dale, after being signed by Cincinnati on Wednesday.

The ‘Boys fell to 5-8 on the season and 1-6 at home following the heartbreaking defeat.

Jerry Jones, the general manager and owner of the Cowboys, expressed his sadness about the blocked kick’s outcome. The lads persevered throughout the day, and I was proud of them. The quarterback’s fantastic, and I felt we accomplished some excellent things.

The Bengals’ victory was largely due to Cincinnati’s two Chases. Ja’Marr Chase had two touchdowns and 177 receiving yards at the end of the game. In the meantime, Chase Brown amassed 123 all-purpose yards and scored a touchdown.

The Bengals ended a three-game losing streak and improved to 5-8 behind Burrow’s 369 passing yards and three touchdowns.
