Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar suggested that more teachers should be hired and hunger alleviation should be the priorities for the money raised by imposing a value-added tax on private school tuition.
A £150 million increase for state schools to use for breakfast clubs and additional teachers has been pledged by Anas Sarwar.
The money, according to the Scottish Labour Leader, will come from the Keir Starmer Government raising the VAT on private school tuition.
Last week, Starmer revealed his intentions to raise £7.3 billion from targeted tax increases, which would include £1.5 billion from independent schools.
A major component of Scottish Labour’s manifesto, which will be unveiled today, will centre on how Holyrood will be allocated the money from cutting tax breaks for affluent schools.
