In the days ahead, boxers Mike Tyson and Jake Paul will be suspended.
In their contentious bout in Dallas on Friday night, Paul defeated Tyson, as the YouTuber fell short of his pre-fight promises to knock out the former undisputed heavyweight world champion. As Tyson struggled through his first fight in four years and his first professional fight in nearly twenty, Paul controlled the battle from the first bell.
Although neither guy was injured during the battle, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which is in charge of regulating the fight, will require both men to take it easy because it was approved as a professional event. According to the rules, each combatant must take three days off for each round fought; Paul and Tyson will therefore be required to take 24 days off. Naturally, it would be unrealistic to anticipate a fight between Tyson and Paul within three weeks of Friday’s conclusion.
In the meantime, Tyson does not believe that his loss to Jake Paul will mark the end of his fighting career. The YouTuber-turned-boxer won the eight-round bout, which was broadcast on Netflix and took place at Texas’ AT&T Stadium, 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73. Although it was Tyson’s first fight in 19 years, the 58-year-old left the door open for more battles in an interview with Netflix following the match.
Tyson responded, “I don’t know,” when asked if it was the final time he would be seen in a ring. It is contingent upon the circumstances. Not in my opinion. Tyson mentioned Paul’s brother Logan in the ring when asked who he might face in the future. The former heavyweight champion of the world added that he was “completely satisfied” with his performance. Tyson remarked, “I knew (Paul) was a good fighter.” “I only proved myself to myself, not to anyone else. I’m content with what I can do; I’m not one of those men who tries to please everyone.
Paul, meanwhile, honored his opponent in his post-fight remarks. “This is such an honor, Mike Tyson,” he remarked. “He’s the best at it ever.” He is a legendary figure. It was a privilege to battle him. He was just what I had anticipated. With a clearly exhausted Tyson finding it difficult to keep up with Paul for the majority of the fight, the eagerly awaited contest fell short of the high expectations.
