New York Giants 2024 preseason schedule released

Published

on

The whole preseason schedule was made public by the NFL on Friday morning, so we now know exactly when the New York Giants will play in August.

The Giants’ upcoming schedule, including which games will be played at home and on the road, against the Detroit Lions, Houston, and the New York Jets, has long been known. We now have exact knowledge of the days and times of those matches.

Detroit Lions vs. Giants – Thursday, August 8, 7 p.m.
Houston Texans vs. Giants on Saturday, August 17, at 1 p.m.
New York Jets at. Giants on Saturday, August 24, 7:30 p.m.
As the Giants prepare for the 2024 season, each of their games is significant and might serve as a useful test.

This year’s practice between the two teams will take place before the Giants and Lions game for the second consecutive year. A year earlier, the two clubs were positioned identically, as determined underdogs with comparable records attempting to advance. This season, the Lions team who participated in the NFC Championship game will be practiced against and then faced by the Giants. Not much should be inferred from the first

Despite it being a preseason game, the Giants will have the opportunity to compare themselves to one of the NFC’s top teams from the previous season.

Following the Lions game, the Giants will have nine days off, which they will use in part to fly to Houston to play the Texans. They are up against a club that needed to play flawlessly to avoid humiliation in this test, which is a tremendous opportunity for them. C.J. Stroud made this squad a legitimate postseason contender. Although the number of Texans starters who will participate is still unknown, if they do play, Dalton Schultz, John Metchie III, Tank Dell, Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins, and Stroud should pose a serious threat to the Giants defence.

Derek Stingley Jr. and Will Anderson Jr. can also put the Giants’ receiving group and offensive line to the test.

Ultimately, even though the Jets didn’t make the playoffs the previous season, with Aaron Rogers healthy, that is the expectation for them this year. If the two teams use this game as a “dress rehearsal” for the season, we could get a highly useful final look at the Giants before Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings. The Jets have a strong squad and a great defence.

Are the 2024 Giants really going to be that bad

Published

on

Fans of the New York Giants and the (presumed) football intelligentsia have not been overly enthusiastic about the 2024 NFL season. For instance, the Giants are ranked No. 31 out of the 32 NFL teams by Pro Football Focus coming into the season, and they are taking the under on a predicted victory total of 6.5. This indicates that they don’t believe the Giants have changed much from their 6-11 record in 2023.

They’re not alone: The Athletic ranks them No. 27, NFL.com ranks them No. 27, ESPN ranks them No. 28 (not including their draft pick of Malik Nabers), CBS Sports ranks them No. 29, Fox Sports ranks them No. 30 (not counting any of their off-season actions), and NFL.com ranks them No. 27. Even so,

But are things really so bad? The fact that the Giants would have a new quarterback this season if they had been the NFL’s worst club in 2023 is evidence that they weren’t. They narrowly lost three other games against playoff opponents (the Rams, Buffalo, and Philadelphia again), but they triumphed over two playoff teams, Green Bay and Philadelphia. Sure, in free agency they lost Tyrod Taylor, Xavier McKinney, and Saquon Barkley. However, they also added a number of quality free agents and selected some interesting players in the draft. In what way do you balance the wins and losses?

We talked about a technique back in March that Kevin Cole of the blog Unexpected Points uses to determine how much a team’s expected points added (EPA) is improved by a specific addition in comparison to a generic replacement-level player. Using a “Plus/Minus” metric, the method calculates a player’s performance in relation to the average player in his “type,” which includes not only the position he plays but also his usage as determined by a number of standard NFL statistics (such as number of routes, yards per route, and slot vs. wide receivers).

New York Giants Offensive Player Ready To Become Superstar

Published

on

The New York Giants have selected talented offensive players in the past. Eli Manning, an Ole Miss quarterback, was selected in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft. Manning is destined to be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame after winning two Super Bowls.

In the 2018 NFL Draft, the Giants also selected Penn State running back Saquon Barkley with the second overall pick. Barkley did not live up to the hoopla that surrounded him as the second overall choice, and he is no longer with the organisation.

Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was chosen by the New York Giants in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft back in 2014. He was an LSU Tiger football player in college.

Malik Nabers, a rookie wide receiver for the New York Giants, is poised to emerge as an NFL superstar immediately.

Malik Nabers is drawing attention and creating plays for the New York Giants on Thursday during organised team activities (OTAs). He looks to be everything that has been described, and there are videos of him making excellent catches.

Since Odell Beckham Jr. was selected with the sixth overall choice in the 2024 NFL Draft, they have not had an offensive talent comparable to this. LSU appears to be a factory for wide receivers, as Malik Nabers attended as well.

“The team portion’s opening offensive play was likewise rather skillful. Nine of Drew Lock’s ten throws were completed, two of which were spectacular touchdown passes to Malik Nabers. Nabers made his first catch over the top down the left sideline, grabbing the ball with remarkable body control.

It got much better when the second touchdown throw was made. Lock shifted to his left after receiving a play action throw, and then lofted a pass to the back of the end zone with a flick of the wrist. Nabers had to spread apart in order to make the spectacular catch while sprinting along the back of the end zone. Nabers had outstanding awareness by putting his feet down on both plays.

Malik Nabers has the opportunity to discuss

Who hands Malik Nabers the football in space might not matter. Nabers might be a huge wide receiver in his first season if Drew Lock or Daniel Jones give him an opportunity to make a play. Both training camp and the required mini-camp will include his name often.
