Nottingham Forest player set to leave on a £30m deal

Now that the team needs to raise some money to balance the books, Nottingham Forest is expected to lose a player for good this summer.

Nottingham Forest’s Premier League survival will guarantee them at least one more season of money from the top tier at the City Ground.

However, in order for Forest to avoid any further FFP violations before the deadline of June 30th, Nuno Espirito Santo will still need to part ways with a few of his players this month.

It has been reported that Forest values players like Morgan Gibbs-White and Murillo more than the £47.5 million they received for Brennan Johnson last summer. These players have been linked to possible departures this summer.

However, one player will undoubtedly leave Forest this month as his loan club exercises the option to extend his stay.

Forest set to lose £30m player this summer

There has been a substantial player turnover at Forest since they returned to the premier league, and Evangelos Marinakis has given his managers a lot of support.

However, it appears that one of the players who signed after being promoted to the Premier League might already be making a permanent leave.

Johnson’s sale to Spurs last summer was forced upon Forest, albeit the transfer brought in a sizable financial return for the team.

Orel Mangala, on the other hand, left Forest last summer on a half-season loan to Lyon and now faces a decision on his future there.

Florian Plettenberg, a German journalist, claims that since Lyon extended Mangala’s loan agreement this summer, he will not be going back to Forest.
Mangala’s contract with Lyon is set to expire in2027, but the report suggests the French team may try to turn a profit on the midfield player by looking to move him in the summer.

The Athletic has previously stated that Forest would get up to £30 million this summer if Mangala’s permanent move to Lyon goes through.

Forest turning a healthy profit on Orel Mangala this summer

Mangala paid £10.5 million to join Forest from Stuttgart in 2022, and he has since made 53 appearances for the Forest.

The Belgian has continued to play for Forest in the Premier League and FA Cup, making 22 appearances so far this season.

The midfielder is scheduled to compete for Belgium in the summertime Euros and may perhaps earn a more significant transfer in the upcoming months.

Given the circumstances surrounding Forest’s FFP situation this month, a return of about £20 million in profit on Mangala may be quite beneficial.

It will be disappointing to watch, though, if Lyon can continue this summer and make money off of the Belgian.

Now that he’s looking for a summer move, Nottingham Forest may see their January interest in a Premier League player rekindled.

Now that Nottingham Forest has narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League, their difficult 2023–24 season is over.
Nuno Espirito Santo will now have to manage a challenging summer transfer window, as Forest must offload players by June 30 in order to prevent additional FFP violations.

That does not, however, preclude the arrival of new players at the City Ground this summer, as Forest has a number of areas in which they hope to improve.

And one of those spots has shown to be a genuine problem the entire season, despite Evangelos Marinakis’ best efforts to fix it in the January transfer window.

The player, who Forest was unable to sign during the winter transfer window, might be ready to quit his present team this summer in search of a fresh challenge.

Forest might rekindle interest in the transfer target for January.
With three goalkeepers switching positions over the season, Forest has struggled mightily in the goalkeeping department.

Despite Nuno’s inability to sign his January target, Matz Sels, Matt Turner, and Odysseas Vlachodimos have all gotten opportunities in goal for Forest this season.

That earlier-in-the-year target, though, appears to be willing to consider leaving his present team during the summer in pursuit of more regular games.

It is thought that Forest expressed interest in Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool in January, when Nuno was having trouble deciding on his starting goalie.

The Athletic claims that because Forest was unable to match Liverpool’s financial demands, they were unable to sign the Ireland international during January.

The 25-year-old, however, is reportedly planning to quit Anfield in the upcoming months after playing behind Alisson Becker for another season.

Nuno is obviously looking to replace his custodian come summertime, as evidenced by the report’s interest in players like Andrew Ventura and Koen Casteels.

What Jurgen Klopp said about Caoimhin Kelleher

Despite being Liverpool’s backup custodian, Kelleher is an Irishman who has made 26 appearances this season in all competitions.

Ten of those appearances, or nearly half of them, occurred in the Premier League while Liverpool’s top Brazilian player was sidelined due to injury.

After participating in multiple cup finals, Kelleher has developed into a highly solid option for Liverpool in recent years, earning high marks from Jurgen Klopp.

“He was excellent in the match against Brentford.” I’m not sure who leads Ireland in goals exactly, but give them credit if they have a superior custodian. Earlier this year, Klopp told the media, “He’s outstanding.”

“It remains to be seen how long Alisson is out, but Caoimhin is outstanding.”
