On Friday, a truck and eight other automobiles were involved in a multi-vehicle collision that resulted in numerous injuries and traffic gridlock on one of Sydney’s busiest routes.
When police got to the scene at approximately 4.30 p.m. on Parramatta Road in Five Dock, they saw several damaged automobiles and a tanker truck obstructing the road.
Between Harris Road and Frederick Street, Parramatta Road was blocked in both directions until shortly past midnight. Police and Transport for NSW advised drivers to stay away from the area.
According to a police official, the female passenger and the male driver of one of the automobiles were rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with significant injuries.
With minor injuries, two other people were also brought to the Royal Prince Alfred.
After receiving on-the-spot treatment from paramedics, a female driver with arm and back injuries was transported to Westmead Hospital.
A different motorist was brought to St. Vincent’s Hospital due to minor injuries.
The man in his 40s who was operating the tanker was assisting law enforcement in their investigation. He had no wounds.
Numerous cars were totaled in the collision, and the road was covered in debris. A automobile was found crushed on the sidewalk, and another had its driver-side door ripped off.
According to a police statement, “police have set up a crime scene and are investigating the cause of the crash.”
