Jason Ryles’ Parramatta Eels makeover looks ready to continue, with the club apparently in negotiations to sign young guns from two of its rivals.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that explosive Sharks lock Jack Williams will soon arrive, which should strengthen the Eels’ forward pack.
The 28-year-old Williams has been a tremendous asset for the Sharks off the bench, giving Craig Fitzibbon’s team excellent punch and middle-of-the-court play.
Significant wage limit restrictions, however, prevent Cronulla from carrying a lock forward; instead, the Eels have reportedly agreed to a three-year contract that would see the Cooma Colts product introduced to western Sydney.
Williams averaged 26 tackles and 90 running meters per game in 25 games this season.
Additionally, it has been claimed that the Eels are considering signing gifted Bulldogs fullback Joash Papalii for the upcoming campaign.
Isaiah Iongi, the club’s fullback jersey, will face competition from Papalii, a No. 1 by trade, as the young star can play several positions and even had an appearance off the bench for the Bulldogs in this year’s NSW Cup competition.
