Wolves added a number of players in the summer, but one goal the team did not succeed in acquiring was Che Adams.

In addition to Bastien Meupiyou, who will potentially be a first-team option later in the season, Wolves signed six additional players. Additionally, Tommy Doyle’s Manchester City loan was extended to a permanent position.

The new striker for Wolves is Jorgen Strand Larsen, who originally joined on loan from Celtic Vigo. That will soon become an automatic permanent move.

Strand Larsen’s signing raised the possibility that Wolves would sign a centre forward because Sasa Kalajdzic wouldn’t be available until later in the season.

Once more, there were connections to Che Adams, a player in whom Wolves had a protracted interest.

The club reportedly made a bid of up to £18 million in an attempt to sign him in the summer of 2023.

The player became a free agent in the last window, and Wolves seemed interested in signing him again.

However, he ultimately joined Torino, and he’s off to a fantastic start.

Che Adams is showing Wolves what they’ve missed out on

Adams may have been on the verge of joining Wolves in the summer of 2024, but Southampton scuttled the deal at the last minute.

Wolves continued to be interested in the talent, and in January 2024, new connections were made.

Adams eventually signed with a new club in the summer following additional conjecture. The 28-year-old was signed by Torino, meaning Wolves were left out.

In Serie A, Adams has really taken off, which may have been expected.

The striker has now netted four goals in his eight outings for his new team, including two in his previous two Serie A games.

In addition, he has provided two assists, for a total of six interactions.

His efforts have enabled Torino to have a fantastic league debut. Currently, they are fifth and have lost just one of their six games thus far.

Adams recently spoke of his move to Torino, noting that it was ‘an easy choice’ to join the club after leaving Southampton (via Football Italia).

Adams could have been useful for Wolves

In the end, Adams obviously thought Wolves was not the right step for him and it’s a shame.

Because he was a free agent and would have come with low risk, he could have been a terrific addition for Gary O’Neil.

Clearly, Wolves still have a lot of excellent choices.

The likes of Matheus Cunha, Goncalo Guedes, and Hwang Hee-chan can all play through the centre, while Strand Larsen appears to have a lot of potential.

Adams might have been helpful. However, clearly not as helpful as a different centre back would have been.
