Gavin Dhont, a missing Ripon man for more than a month, was discovered dead in the search by the police.

Mr. Dhont was last seen on Sunday, May 15, and was reported missing on June 29.

Officers were deeply worried for the 45-year-old’s welfare and made many pleas in an attempt to locate him.

Over the past few weeks, numerous searches—including the deployment of police dogs and a drone—have been conducted in an attempt to locate Gavin, but to no effect.

The body found on July 1 in the River Ure has been identified as Gavin Dhont’s.

A spokeswoman has stated that the road will be closed for several hours and that drivers are urged to find alternate routes.

Following a severe incident on the A61 Ripon Road this afternoon, North Yorkshire Police have issued a warning that the road would be closed for “several hours.”

Tragically, a woman and her two children perished in Ripon when their car struck a bus.

Yesterday (Sunday, September 3) at around 2:00 pm, there was a collision on the A61 near South Stainley on the way to Ripley. There was a double-decker bus, a blue Toyota Aygo, and a silver Vauxhall Meriva involved.

The bus was moving in the opposite direction from the Vauxhall and Toyota, which were heading south towards Ripley. Following the crash, the three people inside the Vauxhall Meriva—a six-year-old boy, a teenage girl, and a woman in her 30s—all passed away. They have notified and are receiving specialised support from their next of kin.

While emergency personnel respond to the scene, drivers are asked to find alternate routes as the A61 is presently closed near South Stainley. Around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, the AA traffic and travel service initially reported a blockage on the route.

Traffic is backed up in both directions close to the crash area, according to the AA. According to the service, traffic jams on the A61 occur between Church Lane and Green Lane.

“The A61, Ripon road, near South Stainley is currently closed due to a serious collision,” a North Yorkshire Police representative stated. It is anticipated that the route would stay closed for a few hours.

“At this moment, drivers are requested to steer clear of the area and use an alternate route. I’m grateful.
