Following a high-speed police pursuit through Greater Manchester that resulted in a three-vehicle collision, five people are scheduled to appear in court. Following a collision at a crossroads on Sunday night involving a Ford Transit van and a black car, Bury New Road in Prestwich was closed.
The M.E.N. obtained footage of the van being chased by eight police cars just prior to the collision. It happened after police responded at about 8:00 p.m. to a burglary in Stockport.
Nobody was injured in a way that would have been fatal. Soon after, four persons were taken into custody.
Images from the scene showed broken traffic lights and other debris scattered across the road next to Tesco. Within the cordon were also visible a badly damaged black car, a van, and a white Hyundai.
In relation to the incident, the following people have been charged with burglary: Stephen Meakin, 39, of Hood Street, Accrington; Matthew Hammond, 40, of Toronto Street, Bolton; Connor Bradley, 25, of Bradford Street, Bolton; James Hosker, 19, of Lincoln Court, Accrington; and a 16-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons.
Today was the fifth person’s scheduled appearance at Manchester magistrates’ court. The Independent Office for Police Conduct has also been notified about the incident.
