What Shrewsbury Town new signing goalkeeper said after deal done

Head coach Paul Hurst says Shrewsbury Town’s responsibility is to ensure that new player Toby Savin reaches his full potential.

The former Accrington Stanley player is one of the club’s two summer custodian acquisitions after agreeing to a two-year contract in Shropshire.

After a protracted hunt for a custodian, Town’s interest in Savin was initially made public by the Shropshire Star at the end of May. Now, Salop has unveiled the 23-year-old as their fourth signing of the transfer window.

Hurst stated, “He is a player with a lot of potential.” “And he possesses every quality needed to be an excellent goalie.

It is our responsibility to see to it that Brian Jensen fulfils it and develops into the best version of himself.

Savin has previously been connected to Tottenham and other elite teams, and as recently as January, Manchester United expressed interest in him.

But over the past few years, injuries have kept him from playing very much; in the previous season, he only made 10 appearances for Stanley.

But despite his battles, Savin has still played a lot of football for someone so young.

Hurst went on, “Toby is a keeper who has a lot of games behind him for a young player.” Particularly taking into account his age.

The previous season was challenging due to a few injuries.

However, he was able to accumulate over 100 appearances prior to then, the most of which came in League One.

“Clubs higher up the leagues showed interest in Toby during that time.”

After Marko Marosi, who has been outstanding over the last three seasons, declared he would not sign the extension Town had offered him, Savin will have large shoes to fill.

Marko Marosi set to leaves but Shrewsbury Town are ….

This portion of the football season is when things wind down immediately following the season.

While there won’t be any major announcements anytime soon, the players who have received new contract offers from the team still need to make their choices. As Paul Hurst himself stated last week, Marko Marosi is most certainly the player most likely to depart.

Given that he has been one of the team’s most reliable players during his tenure, he will undoubtedly have one of the best contracts at Shrewsbury and earn among the top salaries.

He has been terrific. The amount of points he has won for Shrewsbury Town would be remarkable with some of his saves.

It won’t be easy for him to leave, considering he hasn’t missed a lot of football either. Because of his skill, I believe Marosi will receive numerous offers from both League One and Championship teams. Regretfully, I do anticipate that he will go on because Town’s offer of money will pale in comparison to what he might be able to obtain elsewhere.

When you consider what Paul Hurst accomplished in that regard during his previous stint at the football team—bringing in Dean Henderson on loan from Manchester United—it all makes sense.
