Abdull won’t play against Hull FC.
Jordan Abdull, who recently signed with Hull FC, will not play against his future employers on Saturday afternoon as he has been cut from the Catalans Dragons team. Steve McNamara made two changes, including the suspension of Arthur Romano and the addition of Abdull.
Romano will miss the final Super League regular round match at MKM Stadium due to a one-game ban. But with Tom Johnstone returning and Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet joining the team again, the Dragons are strengthened. Sam Tomkins is in the mix after coming out of retirement against the Black and Whites back in July, as is former Hull prop Chris Satae.
For Catalans, Abdull has only appeared in 15 games so far this season. He joined the French team on a season-long loan from Hull KR and will play for the Black and Whites starting in the next campaign on a three-year deal.
The player, who will be 29 in February, played last week in Perpignan against the London Broncos. He had only played in three games since the end of May due to knee problems, thus that was his first game in more than two months. Hull will need to address those knee problems before beginning preseason training in November. John Cartwright will take over as manager this autumn, and he has set high expectations for the program.
As for Saturday’s fixture, both sides will know their fate after Friday night’s games. Catalans are aiming to secure the final play-off place. The French side are relying on St Helens and Hull KR victories to stand a chance, with Hull looking to better London Broncos’ result at Warrington Wolves to avoid the Super League wooden spoon.
