mother kills her sons in a fire in sutton

A south London home fire claimed the lives of the mother’s four sons, who has entered a not guilty plea.
29-year-old Deveca Rose showed up at the Old Bailey accused of manslaughtering three-year-old Leyton and Logan Hoath and four-year-old Kyson and Bryson Hoath.
The brothers, who were two sets of twins, perished on December 16, 2021, at roughly 19:00 GMT, following a fire on Collingwood Road, Sutton.
In addition, Ms. Rose, of Wallington, South London, disputes four charges of maltreatment against minors.

The kids were taken from the “intense blaze” at the mid-terrace residence by firefighters, who also administered CPR to them right away.
After being transported to two hospitals in south London, the boys were declared dead.
The bail-exempt defendant stated her pleas in front of Judge Mark Lucraft KC during the hearing.
The trial was rescheduled from its original date of September 2 to September 9, which is one week later. It can take as long as three weeks.

Based on data from City Hall, the number of no-fault evictions in London rose by 52% in the past year.
Over five times as much has increased as the rest of England and Wales during the same time span.
A Conservative bill that would have prohibited landlords from evicting tenants without cause failed to become law prior to the dissolution of Parliament in order to hold the general election.
During his Thursday campaign stop in Sutton, Home Secretary James Cleverly addressed the BBC London, addressing the issue of the lack of a ban and pointing out that the Conservatives have constructed more than 2.2 million homes nationwide.

Landlords can evict renters with two months’ notice and no justification by using Section 21 notifications.
In London, there were 11,880 of these no-fault eviction claims as of the end of March 2024, up 52% from 7,834 in the year prior to March 2023, according to the most recent government data.
According to City Hall, this growth contrasts with a 9% increase in the rest of England and Wales within the same time frame.

Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London for Labour, claimed that the data demonstrated the “huge betrayal” of the government’s inaction in forbidding the evictions, commonly known as section 21 notices.
“It is a great betrayal of London’s 2.7 million private renters, who are left with the threat of eviction hanging over their heads, that the government failed to pass the Renters (Reform) Bill before the dissolution of Parliament today,” he declared.
The mayor went on to say that more renters in London were now at “unnecessary risk of housing insecurity and homelessness” as a result of the legislation’s delay.

Man dies after ‘firearm discharged’ in house – police

Published

on

Police have verified that a man died after a gun went off at a property where they were conducting investigations.

According to Bedfordshire Police, the incident took place on Friday at around 20:55 BST at a residence on St. Kilda Road in Luton.
“Before officers entered the home, a firearm was discharged inside the house, causing injuries to a man in his thirties,” stated the statement.
Although the victim was given “immediate first aid” by the officers, he passed away at the site. The Independent Office for Police Conduct has been notified about the event.

The officers were at the address as part of an investigation into what police described as a “firearm discharge” earlier on Friday in Sundon Park Road, about three miles away.

Police said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with either incident.

Supt Hob Hoque, of Bedfordshire Police, said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the family of the man who died at this tragic time.

“We understand the impact an incident like this can have on not just loved ones, but the community more widely.

“We ask the public to respect the family’s right to privacy during this difficult time and avoid speculation,” the statement reads. “The family is being supported by specialist officers.”
“Over the next few days, there will be more police present to conduct additional investigations and provide comfort to the public.”
Bedfordshire Police have been advised to get in touch with anyone who has information.

The police stated that “Telford Way is a particularly busy area of the town, and we are hopeful that people who used the route yesterday may have details to inform our investigation.”

A mother claimed she felt “let down” by the police after using taekwondo techniques to stop a robber taking her motorbike.
At the Hatters Way retail park in Luton, 31-year-old Xristina fought the robber—who she claimed to be a 12-year-old boy—to the ground. However, she gave up and let him go ten minutes later.
She claimed that a police vehicle had driven by the location before and had only come back once the thief had made off.
According to Bedfordshire Police, multiple lines of inquiry have been completed, and an investigation is still on.
