After Sunday afternoon’s 3-3 draw away at Norwich City, Tommy Conway, a striker for Middlesbrough, praised the away supporters for their support.
After missing a penalty and scoring a brace at Carrow Road, he took to X.
Borja Sainz’s spectacular goal in the ninth minute gave the Canaries the lead early on and put them in a strong position to win.
However, Boro managed to rally, with Conway equalising from a cross and then netting a second in the 40th minute to make it 2-1.
Finn Azaz scored from close range just before half-time to make it 3-1 – and it looked as though the Teesside outfit were going to take all three points back up north when they won a penalty with just over 20 minutes to go.
It turned out to be a game-changing moment when Conway’s penalty was saved by George Long.
Seny Dieng’s own goal in the 80th minute made it 3-3, and Sainz’s goal minutes later made it 3-2.
Although the hosts managed to hang onto a point in the end, the Canaries had Kenny McLean sent off late in the game, and Boro will be quite frustrated that they were unable to secure the victory.
With a great opportunity to make it 4-1 and put Johannes Hoff Thorup’s team out of the game, Michael Carrick’s team, who are hoping to be promoted this season, will view this match as a setback and two points lost.
Tommy Conway’s speech to Middlesbrough fans following a thrilling afternoon matchup with Norwich City
Conway will be pleased that he was able to increase his season total by a few goals.
However, because that turned out to be a crucial point in the game, he might probably be thinking about his missed penalty a lot.
“Mixed emotions with today’s performance,” the Boro forward wrote on X, summarising an intriguing afternoon in Norfolk. Many thanks to everyone who made the trip. ❤️.
After Norwich City’s draw, Middlesbrough can consider themselves unlucky.
Conway would acknowledge that the penalty wasn’t the best, but Sainz’s goal to make it 3-2 was incredible, and his first goal was also outstanding. Carrick’s team gave up twice as a result of two irresistible goals.
Dieng had to scurry across his goal to try to keep the ball out in Norwich’s bizarre third goal. Unfortunately, he ultimately couldn’t.
Although a point at Carrow Road isn’t a terrible result, Boro will be devastated because they missed a fantastic opportunity to lead 4-1.
In their upcoming matchup with Coventry City, they will now strive to reply to that and win all three points.
