This morning (Wednesday), police had to close a major route in Lymington during rush hour due to a car breaking down.

At 8.20 a.m., the Hampshire force said online that officers had been obliged to restrict Avenue Road between its intersections with Lower Buckland Road and New Street, and they asked drivers to avoid the area.

A representative informed the A&T that the car was “posing a hazard to other road users” for which the closure had been implemented.

The road has been reopened, and drivers are appreciated for their patience, according to an update that was released at 9.40 am.

The collision occurred on Monday, May 27, at around 1pm on Church Road. It included a silver car and a pedestrian.

According to the police, the motorist pulled over for a brief while to see how the pedestrian was doing before leaving without exchanging information.

During the crash, the small child who was a pedestrian only had minor injuries.

Officers are now asking the public for help as they continue their continuing inquiries into identifying the car and driver involved.

“Were you in the area at the time of the incident?” asked a police spokesperson. Were you present when it happened, or are you acquainted with the driver? Did you happen to be the driver?

“If you have any information which could assist in our investigation, including any dash cam or other footage, please call 101 and quote incident number 44240222122.”
