Police close road after two killed in Totton

After his vehicle collided with a lorry in Hampshire, the man who was driving died.

At approximately 03:15 BST on Thursday, the 51-year-old man from Christchurch, Dorset, and his silver Peugeot 107 collided with the lorry on the A326 in Totton at the intersection with Monkton Lane.
His family has been notified.
The A326 was closed between Fletchwood Road and the A35, however it reopened around 15:00.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary stated that they would be happy to talk to anyone who observed a silver Peugeot 107 in Totton and New Milton early on Thursday morning with the licence plate ending in JHZ.

Here’s everything we know about today’s tragic crash on Totton Road

At 3:16 a.m., police officers raced to the scene of an accident between a silver Peugeot 107 and a lorry on the A326 near the intersection with Monkton Lane.

For around twelve hours, the road between Fletchwood Road and A35 Hunters Hill was closed in both directions.

The man, a 51-year-old Christchurch resident, who was operating the vehicle, was declared deceased on the spot. Now, his family has been notified.

 

Around 3:15 p.m., the section of the road between Fletchwood Road and A35 Hunters Hill was reopened.

Police investigating the incident are currently seeking to speak with anyone who witnessed the silver Peugeot, which has a registration plate ending in JHZ, in the early hours of this morning or anyone was passing through the area at around 3.15am, as part of their investigation.


According to a police spokeswoman: “We are specifically requesting that anyone living in the Totton and New Milton areas check any CCTV, dash cam or Ring doorbell footage for any reports of seeing a car that fits this description.

“If you have any information, please call 101 and mention reference 44240247966. As an alternative, you can submit information online.”

One more arrest made as totton murder investigation intensifies

Robbery is the reason behind the arrest of an eighteen-year-old Totton man.

It comes after an incident on Monday between 3.35 and 3.40 in the morning in Wetherby Gardens, Totton.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was reportedly approached by two males during the incident, who threatened him verbally before taking his electric bike.

According to a Hampshire police spokesperson, “Officers would like to hear from anyone who was nearby at the time and witnessed anything of the incident.” The officers are currently conducting reassurance patrols in the area.

“Please phone 101 and cite incident number 44240265139 if you witnessed anything strange in the vicinity or have any footage which may help us in our investigation.”

The inquiry is still underway, and the suspect is still being held by the police.

Police found dead body of missing Totton woman

Her family has been notified.

Police have revealed that a corpse has been discovered during the hunt for a Hampshire lady who went missing. The last time Hannah Leigh, 57, was spotted was on Wednesday, June 19 in Totton.

Around 2:30 pm, the 57-year-old was last observed in the vicinity on Junction Road. Assuming she was in the Southampton region, Hampshire Constabulary issued a missing persons appeal on Thursday, June 20.

On Friday, June 21, Hampshire Constabulary said that a corpse had been discovered as a result of the search. The next of kin of Hannah have been notified.

A police spokeswoman posted the following on the Totton Police Facebook page: “We wanted to bring you an update, as officers searching for Totton resident Hannah Leigh, who has been missing, have discovered a corpse. Her next of kin have been notified, but formal identification has not yet occurred. As always, we sincerely appreciate your assistance in spreading the word about our request.”
