Wycombe Wanderers manager believes striker Bez Lubala will add ‘pace and intensity’ to the squad following his recent return from injury.
The 26-year-old forward played only his second game of the season in Tuesday night’s 5-3 hammering of the Brighton & Hove Albion U21s in the EFL Trophy, where he bagged four goals.
This includes scoring a first-half hat-trick inside a 23 minute spell.
He is now in contention to start against Cambridge United on Saturday, as Wanderers look to make it three wins from four in League One.
“Having Bez back is a good thing,” Bloomfield remarked.
Since we signed him back in January, he has been fantastic for us, and at the end of the previous season, he really led the line for us.
“It’s disappointing that we haven’t been able to use him because of his hamstring injuries, but it’s good to have him back and scoring four goals on his return is very pleasing. He’s added pace, intensity, and intelligence to the press.”We’ve had a lot of success with Sam Vokes, Richard Kone, and Dan Udoh this season, so it’s great to have Bez join them.
Lubala paid an unknown amount to join Wycombe from Burton Albion in January.
Since then, he has made 16 appearances and scored 6 goals
with four of them coming on Tuesday night.
The Congolese forward also played under Matt Bloomfield during their time at Colchester United in the 2022/23 campaign.
