Leyton orient confirms hero’s departure

Blackpool has released Marvin Ekpiteta; Barnsley and Peterborough United are interested, but there has been no mention of a return to Orient.
After helping Leyton Orient win the National League title and go promoted with Blackpool, Ekpiteta had a great time there.
Orient may be losing several important defensive players, thus adding Ekpiteta to the roster could be a wise choice to increase their alternatives going forward.

Blackpool, a League One team, has released Marvin Ekpiteta, a former defender for Leyton Orient.

Although a return to Orient has not yet been discussed, he is apparently interested in joining with Barnsley and Peterborough United.

Not that the O’s aren’t keeping an eye on the 28-year-old—they do have a center-back dilemma to work out before the new campaign begins.

Ekpiteta spent three years in Oxford United’s academy before leaving for non-league Chelmsford City in 2014 after failing to make the senior team.

Before joining the Concord Rangers, a fellow National League South team, he played for two seasons at the Essex club.

However, the defender was only at the Beach Boys for six months when he left midway through the 2016–17 campaign to sign with East Thurrock United.

Leyton Orient plans for departed Sheffield Wednesday man

Tyreeq Bakinson left Sheffield Wednesday, and Leyton Orient is now in the running for him, according to Football Insider on X.
As they look to bolster their roster, Leyton Orient is the most recent team to be connected to a move for the soon-to-be free agent. With Richie Wellens in charge, they are getting ready for another season in League One.

After his contract with Sheffield Wednesday expired this summer, Bakinson, 25, severed connections with the team and must now decide his future course of action. He was on loan at Charlton Athletic for the second half of the previous campaign, and a report from FootballTransfers claims that they want him permanently, along with Wycombe Wanderers.

However, the O’s have emerged as a possible suitor in the most recent update on his future provided by Football Insider on X. They were 11 points outside of the play-offs previous season, finishing 11th in the table.

 Leyton Orient wants a midfielder.

Bakinson might be seen by Leyton Orient as a way to give their midfield department additional depth and competition.

The Londoner began his career at Luton Town and progressed through the Hatters’ academy before moving from Kenilworth Road to Bristol City when he was a young player.

After that, he was signed for five years by Ashton Gate, during which time he made 54 appearances across all competitions and contributed five goals.
Before he permanently departed the team in 2022, the Robins leased him out to Newport County, Plymouth Argyle, and Ipswich Town to gain some experience.

Bakinson was then acquired by Sheffield Wednesday, where in his debut season as an Owl, he played 42 games and contributed to the Owls’ promotion from the third division under former manager Darren Moore.

He was loaned to Charlton Athletic in January to receive some playing time after falling out of favour in the Championship the previous season.

Where next?

He might get consistent playing time from Leyton Orient, which is exactly what he needs right now.

But in order to seal a deal, Wellens’ team will have to overcome opposition from teams like Wycombe Wanderers and Charlton Athletic.

The 27-year-old was let go by Cardiff City in August of last year, and he signed a short-term contract with the O’s in February.
Leyton Orient and defender Jack Simpson have agreed to a one-year contract extension.

He left the Bluebirds after accepting a six-game suspension and an £8,000 fine from the FA for using racial slurs on a teammate while Cardiff was on a preseason trip to Portugal.

Chairman of Orient Nigel Travis stated that Simpson had accepted “full responsibility for his actions” and “deserved a second chance” at the time of his signing.

Early in April, Simpson made his League One debut for the O’s against Cheltenham. In all, he made five games, which helped the team finish comfortably in the mid-table this season.

“I feel like I became part of the club and its community straight away, and I have really enjoyed my three months here so far—it has been an incredible experience in so many different ways,” Simpson stated in an external

“I’ve had to demonstrate my personal qualities, and discovering this club’s mission firsthand while out and about seemed unique.

“We want to improve on how we did this year and I’m really grateful to the club for believing in me.”
